Player substitution for matches

We’ve added player substitution to matches, giving players a way out when they can’t make it, even past the cancellation deadline, without losing their money and without leaving the match short.

How it works

• If a player can’t make it, they can find a substitute instead of cancelling for no refund
• They invite a friend or recent playing partner, who has a set window to accept and pay for the spot
• The moment the substitute pays, the original player is refunded in full and swapped out of the match

Why this feature matters

Late cancellations and last-minute changes are one of the most frustrating parts of running a club: a player drops out past the deadline, the spot goes unpaid, and the match is left short. Player substitution turns that moment around, a player who can’t make it can hand their spot to someone who can, and is only refunded once that new player has actually paid. Matches stay full, late changes stop costing your club a booking, and players get a fair way out when plans change at the last minute.
